I had not really got a bit closer to find, what the difference was between hiking and climbing. But I had noticed the difference between English and American grading of climbing. To me it seemed that European grade I° begins when you need to make use of your hands, even if just for balance, while American YDS grade 5.0 begins where you need a rope for safety.
