This was the first crossing of the Colorado River, and luckily we had been able to cross without any mishaps. But later that day, around 8 pm, we had the second crossing of the day to reach camp, and this was not quite as successful. The water was now at its highest, and both of us were partially down in the water before we were safe on the other side.
