During the days Kien had become very popular and sort of a darling among his peers, his smile and concentration on doing what he was doing making everyone of us cheer at him in the races or when preparing for his jumps. Probably it had spread that he had finished fourth in three out of five competitions. With all his efforts he had only won two bronze, and it felt like all of us wanted him to win gold in his last competition, the High Jump.
