It was clear that such an invitation would be resented in Pakistan, so I had to do with wearing these shorts during the preparation phase alone. This was June 2008, and less than three weeks later we would be leaving for Islamabad. On this day I was going to one of the team members, living out of town, to help packing the expedition drums for the expedition. And as weather this early morning was brilliant, I decided to take the walk through the woods to his place, instead of taking the bus.
