Certainly the shirt was more than seven years old now, and probably it also was a lot older. I was thinking that maybe the same was happening as with my old nylon/lycra tights, that they lost their stretch after a number of years - but there was no nylon in this shirt, just the typical polyester and elastane (lycra).
