Back in 1981 I had hiked part of the Hintere Gasse trail from Grindelwald to the Lauterbrunnen valley, passing just below the magnificent North Face of Eiger. It would be obvious to repeat this route, the same time closing the gap below Kleine Scheidegg, which I had omitted in the first time.
