At the end of the jeep road we were set off and now had to continue by foot the last two days' hike up to our planned Base Camp at Pirca de Polacos. The time had just passed noon as when we began our hike, and the sun was blazing down on us. Even in this dry arid climate my whole body was covered in a film of sweat, and we soon found that it was important to drink enough fluids while ascending the valley.
