One possible reason for their loss of stretch could be because I no longer were so active as I had been in the years before. I had been struck by a blood clot the year after I had run the Bertlich half marathon, a blood clot which decimated my running ability, and after a surgery in 2019 I was forced to stop running completely for several years.
