On the far side of the bridge there was a pretty large mudhole, for those people which had crossed the bridge during the summer had naturally stepped the same place, carving the hole there deeper and deeper with time. And with the rising water in the autumn this had become a mudhole and later a waterhole. But creeping along the outside of the bridge I could just escape getting the other shoe soaked.
