With time I found out that these woods were not the best place to go looking for a mudhole. This was all sandy soil, and therefore very well drained. And when very well drained, there was no natural place for water to collect and mud to form. The few places with water were the few reservoirs made here and there for fire extinguishing purposes, and these ponds were not muddy as all.
