We were driving overnight to Austria, and next day around noon we set off for the hut approach. It was the beginning of October 2004, and although a cool breeze was coming down the mountain I soon threw off my thermal shirt to walk up just in my tights. I didn't like to arrive at the hut too sweat-soaked.
