Soon I reached the bank of one of the arms of the here very dispersed Colorado River. This river we had had to ford no less that seven times on our way up to base camp, a task which on my last crossing had given me a severe flesh wound on my right shin, and which may have contributed to my decision of giving up climbing Ramada.
