Fire

The German producer of climbing equipment Edelrid very soon also started selling lycra tights, and they offered a very big collection to choose from. Like most other tights these were 'one size - fits all', but unfortunately most of them were too tight for my heavily built body. However, I did order a few pairs for myself, and these Fire tights are one of the better, being not quite as tight as most. The pic is from my bivvy site at the Argentière Glacier in July 1995, and by now I had started, not only to bring lycra tights on mountain trips, but also my well-worn Converse sneakers as well, this way stressing my low-tech mountain climbing tradition. These Fire tights were only used on this trip, but I have bought a Fire singlet as well with top and pants in one piece, which is somewhat more roomy.
