The insets are not quite symmetrical. The light blue inset goes half way to the front in the waist and gets narrower towards the knee, while the purple inset goes all the way to the inside leg at the ankle. The purple inset is cut diagonally across the calf and stops short of the light blue inset, and the two different angles of the insets give the tights a special appearance.
