Some years ago the owners gave up this not very fertile land, stopped the pumps which kept the former inlet dry, and after a few months the water had returned to the inlet in an attempt to retrieve the nature which once ruled the inlet. The area was then preserved as a bird sanctuary under the European Union, and this afternoon we went there for a visit.
