It was now October 2007, and climbing Fuji-san at that time of the year proved to be a logistic challenge. In the summer climbing season almost all people go half way up the mountain by bus, sleep the night in one of the many huts up there, and then finish the climb in the early morning. But in October there are only a few buses in the early afternoon, and all huts are closed. Going up by one of the few buses we would arrive at the summit around midnight, so we had to find a different approach.
